Egypt has introduced a legal framework that permits an additional tax of up to USD 20 on visa and consular services. Despite this, the current visa fees remain unchanged. Travellers still pay USD 25 for a single-entry visa and USD 60 for a multiple-entry visa, whether obtained on arrival, at a diplomatic mission, or through the online e-Visa system.
Several recent reports incorrectly suggested that the visa fee had increased to USD 45, creating uncertainty among travellers. In practice, no such change has been implemented, and no official announcement has confirmed any adjustment to the existing fees.
Although the law allows a tax of up to USD 20, it does not state how this amount would be applied. It remains unclear whether it would be added to the current fee, replace part of it, or simply serve as a maximum limit with no obligation to enforce it.
