The single-entry visa is valid for 90 days, while the multiple-entry e-visa is valid for 180 days, with an extension option available for longer durations.
You have 2 options for applying for an extension: Renew your visa from outside Egypt or extend your visa while you are in Egypt. (Explained in detail below) To avoid travel disruptions, it is important to apply for Egypt eVisa through the official portal and plan any extensions well in advance.
Note: If you have a multiple-entry Egypt eVisa, you are welcome to visit the country more than once. Please note that each individual's stay can't exceed 30 days.
Since the Egypt e-visa is available for short trips only and allows a stay of just 30 days. There’s always a possibility that your travel plans change at the last minute.
In such a situation, you can utilise the Egypte-visaextension option and plan your travel at your convenience. The Egypt e-visa extension option is available for holders of tourist e-visas. They can extend their e-visas in two different ways:
If you are wondering how to renew your Egyptiantouriste-visa, please be informed that the process is straightforward.
You will need to complete the e-visa application form, answer security-related questions, and select the type of eVisa. Then, upload your Passport bio page scan, and finally pay the e-visa fees using a valid debitorcreditcard. That’s about it.
To renew your e-visa from outside of Egypt, you will need:
You will need the following documents to apply for an e-visa extension by visiting the concerned department in person.
Usually, applicants need to visit the office twice. The first time, they fill out the extention application form in person and submit the required documents and complete the fee payment. They will also get their biometrics done on the first visit.
On your second visit, typically the next day of your first visit, you will receive the information regarding your extension or renewal, you will need to be present to receive that decision and settle any other fee if asked for.
If the extension request is approved, you will receive a visa extension for 3 more months. The e-visa extension is called Foreign Residence Card. It will be issued in the form of a plastic card.
It is never a good idea to overstay your visa, no matter which country you visit; the laws in Egypt are no different.
If you overstay your visa you will break the specific visa’s terms and conditions as well as the country’s immigration and visa policies. This can lead to drastic consequences such as a fine or travel ban.
Generally, if a traveler overstays for 2 weeks, no fine is imposed on the traveler. On the other hand, overstaying your visa for up to 3 months will result in a USD 100 penalty. If you overstayed for over three months, you would be charged accordingly.
The fines will be paid at the airport when you leave Egypt. This could take some time as the airports are busy areas, so you might need to wait for your turn in the queue.
Therefore, it is suggested you arrive at the airport well ahead of your flight so that you have enough time to pay the fine, clear customs and other security procedures, and board the plane on time.
The applicant will have to complete an online visa application form and provide a clear scan of their valid passport’s biography page. In some situations, the traveler may have to give a scan of the passport’s last page and a digital copy of their passport-size photograph.
